Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer premises in the . Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot problems with all versions of Windows-based desktop and laptop computer systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer users in helping to identify and resolve app and OS problems that hinder user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and fix both emergency and persistent problems that reduce the stability, protection, speed, connectivity, and overall capability of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and help with other deployments, updates, and exchanges of desktops, laptop computers and related hardware
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and remediation of PCs and laptop computers and related hardware
  • Stay up-to-date with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook computing applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new program setup, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, knowledge to install short-term patches to solve computer problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad experience delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Operate without supervision and display marked characteristics of responsibility and motivation
